Vaccines
Below are a few of the routine vaccinations we give to our horses, with a brief description of the vaccine protocols necessary to provide a degree of immunity.


Preventative Care
Influenza Vaccine
Influenza Vaccine schedule:
Vaccine 1: Start of primary course
Vaccine 2: 21-60 days after vaccine 1
Vaccine 3: 120-180 days after vaccine 2
Booster: Dependent on your regulatory / competing body. Most are every 6 months, however if you are not competing yearly boosters before day 365 are necessary to maintain the course.
Vaccines can be given from 5 months of age
Preventative Care
Tetanus
Vaccine 1: Start of primary course
Vaccine 2: 4 weeks after vaccine 1
Booster: Boosters every two years are necessary to maintain the course.
Vaccines can be given from 6 months of age


Preventative Care
Equine Herpes
Vaccine 1: Start of primary course
Vaccine 2: 4-6 weeks after vaccine 1
Booster: Dependent on your regulatory / competing body. Most are every 6 months, however if you are not competing yearly boosters before day 365 are necessary to maintain the course.
Vaccines can be given from 5 months of age
Pregnant mares should be vaccinated at 5,7 and 9 months of gestation
Preventative Care
Strangles
Vaccine 1: Start of primary course
Vaccine 2: 4 weeks after vaccine 1
Booster: Given every 6-12 months.
Boosters can be given after 2 months in high risk situations
